Beach Safety Tips for your kids
Going to the beach can be a fun and exciting experience for children, but it’s important to prioritise their safety while enjoying the sand and surf. Here are six tips to keep your kids safe on the beach:

Tip 1: Supervise them at all times
Children should never be left unattended while at the beach. Designate an adult to keep an eye on them at all times, especially when they are swimming or playing near the water.
Tip 2: Use sunscreen
Sunburns can be painful and increase the risk of skin cancer later in life. Make sure your child is wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and reapply it every two hours or after swimming.

Tip 3: Stay hydrated
Dehydration can be a serious problem, especially on hot days. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water or sports drinks to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Tip 4: Stay within designated swimming areas
Beaches often have designated areas for swimming that are monitored by lifeguards. Stay within these areas to ensure your child’s safety and avoid strong currents or dangerous marine life.

Tip 5: Teach them to swim:
Learning to swim is an important skill that can help your child stay safe in the water. Consider enrolling your child in swimming lessons or teaching them yourself.
Tip 6: Keep a first aid kit on hand
Accidents can happen, so it’s important to have a first aid kit on hand in case of an emergency. The kit should include items such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, and insect repellent.
